Mashhad int’l Quran expo to honor Malaysia contest winner

The 12th int’l Quran and Etrat exhibition in Mashhad is to pay tribute to Iranian winner of Malaysia Quran contest.

The 12th edition of the International Quran and Etrat Exhibition in Mashhad has been scheduled to pay tribute to Iranian winner of Malaysia Quran Contest.

To be officially launched on Sunday, Hamid Samadi, the exhibition’s official said an Iranian Qari from Mashhad who came first in Malaysia’s international Quran competition last month, Hamed Alizadeh, will be honored at the opening event.

The exhibition started on Saturday evening, but the official opening ceremony will be on Sunday.

A number of cultural and Quranic officials, including Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad-Reza Heshmati, the Culture Ministry’s Quran and Etrat Deputy, will attend the opening ceremony.

Alizadeh scored 89.96 out of 100, won the first rank at the 59th edition of the Malaysia International Quran Recital Competition.

Mashhad exhibition is aimed to achieve 16 accomplishments, including introduction of Quranic virtues as well as the Quranic potentials in Mashhad as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2017.

The expo is slated to start in June in the holy city during the holy month of Ramadan and will be continued for ten days.

Mashhad was selected as the Cultural Capital of the Muslim World for 2017 during the 7th conference of the ISESCO member states in the Algerian capital city of Algiers in 2007.

Every year, Mashhad hosts over 27 million Iranian and some two million foreign pilgrims in the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS).
